FAQ's

Over the years we have been asked many questions over the phone and on our trade counter, some of which are… well to be quite honest quite ridiculous. We thought it would be a good idea to share a few of the most frequently asked ones with you! (Including some of the ridiculous)

Q: We need some high precision, fine pitch, super alloy fasteners made to drawing, can you do these?

A: Most definitely… we are proud to have supplied many ‘High End’ highly precision parts to all manner of customers nationwide ultimately used by the likes of Rolls Royce and British Aerospace.

Q: I am in charge of the buying for a company that uses high volumes of fasterners & fixings and would like to know if you can deal with high quantities of fasterners and/or if you are able to put a stock management system in place.

A: Yes, we are more than capable of handling large volumes orders and are able to supply large quantity orders throughout the country, we also have many ‘stock management’ systems in place throughout the midlands. Give us a call and we can tailor a package to suit you.

Q: Do you supply ‘Normal’ Fasteners and Fixings?

A: Yes, Assuming by the word ‘normal’ you mean Standard Steel & High Tensile fixings! We carry a massive range of these in stock in a wide variety of thread patterns and materials. If we don’t do it… you probably don’t need it!

Q: I need a bolt/screw but I haven’t got a clue how to measure it, can you help?

A: No problem at all… Hexagon Head, Pan Head, Cap Head, Cheese Head are always measured from under the head to the end of thread, ant screws that are countersunk head are measured overall length and a ‘Raised Countersunk’ headed screw is measured from the widest park of the head, where the shallow dome meets the countersunk to the of thread… easy peasy!!!

Q: I’ve got this weird on a nut but I’m sure what it is. How do I find it out?

A: You could check out our technical info page… or if you’re still not sure (and can spare one) feel free to post or drop once in to our trade counter and we will measure it up for you! Just make sure you put your address and contact details with it and we will get back to you with the information pronto… job done!!

Q: Do you offer a ‘made to order’ service?

A: Yes, send us a drawing or sample of what you require and we can arrange to quote accordingly.

Q: I don’t really need many screws for this particular job, what’s the minimum I need to buy?

A: We have no minimum order charges or box quantities and are a firm developer in ‘you can have what you want, when you want it,… what’s the point in having to buy loads of parts you may never needs again.

Q: I can’t find what I’m looking for on your website, can you help?

A: Of course we can! We have been in the Tool & Fastener Industry for absolutely ages and would probably go as far as to say: “no-one will Tri-Arder” to help you and your needs. Please give us a call or email us and we will be more then willing to be of assistance.

Q: I’m not too keen on paying carriage charges, how much do I have to spend for free delivery?

A: We try to be reasonable with our carriage paid charge and for internet orders it is £50.00 plus vat, obviously if you are local (within a ten mile radius) then we will be able to put the item on one of our delivery vans.

Q: Can I collect my order?

A: Yes, we have a fully stocked trade counter and the staff are always on hand (Usually with a smile) to cater for your every need…well… maybe not ’every’! Feel free pop in and have a browse (and a cup of tea!) although we can’t guarantee you won’t leave with more than you came in for!

Q: What are your opening hours?

A: At the moment our trade counter opening hours are: Monday – Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm (it appears no-one wants to get up early on a Saturday at this point!)

Q: I’ve noticed your internet prices are without the VAT… I don’t want to pay the VAT, Can we do it cheaper for cash?

A: In an ideal world yes… however because we have to pay VAT on everything we buy (and because HMRC seem a bit tetchy about not charging it) it’s something we can’t get round… Sorry!! We show our prices without the VAT for our prices without the VAT for our many trade customers, if we included it on the site it would appear to the trade we are 20% more expensive than what we are!

Q: I buy loads of stuff for my business; can I open a trade account?

A: Yes, if you fill in the on-line account application form we will process your application and get back to normally within 24 hours!

Q: I’ve cocked up… can I amend my order once it has been submitted?

A: Unfortunately once the order has been submitted you won’t be able to change it online, however, if you need to change it / add or remove items please give us a call straight away (preferably during opening hours) as soon as possible after the order has been placed and we will make the amendment for you. We can only do this prior to your order being dispatched!
